Student profiles
The following quote is from a former student who successfully completed the GTP at the Institute of Education:
One trainee's view:
How can I describe the GTP? Challenging – certainly, pragmatic – definitely, designed to get you ready to work as a teacher – without doubt. I knew I wanted a route into teaching that would let me get on with teaching, with plenty of scope for reviewing my learning and hopefully getting better with time. This was definitely the right route for me. I was encouraged to have a go, I was supported when things were tough (thankfully not required too much) and I was treated in a grown up, pragmatic way. As a result the transition to class teacher has been made easier.
Other recent trainees' comments:
-
Exhausting, exhilarating, a roller coaster of a year. Ultimately fulfilling!
-
Thoroughly enjoyable and valuable experience spending so much time in school.
-
Really enjoyed the whole year and have come a very long way.
-
Have enjoyed the challenge and would recommend it to others.
-
A brilliant year and I have no regrets! I think this course has been excellent at introducing me to teaching.
-
The combination of support and advice from the university has been outstanding and would definitely encourage people thinking about the course to persist and try to get on to the course.
-
Very helpful to have opportunities to meet with other trainees – valued this highly.
- For me this was the only way. A career change and trained to be a teacher on the Job. Salary was helpful. Mentor and Personal tutors essential.
