PGCE Secondary Drama

The PGCE Secondary Drama course at Reading has:

  • consistently achieved top grades in Ofsted inspections
  • was described by Her Majesty's Inspectors as 'oustanding' in the most recent inspection (November 2006)
  • is taught by staff with national, and indeed international, reputations as being experts in the field of drama education

PGCE Drama Trainees at Reading:

  • are placed in carefully selected partnership schools where drama is taught as a specialist subject
  • work with experienced drama teachers who are all specially trained as mentors

Applicants should:

  • possess a 2.1 degree or better in a cognate subject (e.g. drama, theatre, performance studies, television or English)
  • have a solid school background in drama (GCSE and A Level Drama and Theatre Studies are preferred)
  • be able to demonstrate an ongoing commitment to the theatre and working with young people
  • be well-informed, critical thinkers and lively communicators.
