PGCE Secondary Art & Design
The PGCE Secondary Art and Design course at Reading is a well established course in which trainees work in partnership with university and school based
staff and which
- has consistently achieved outstanding grades in Ofsted inspections
- is taught by staff with high reputations in the field of Art and Design education
- shares first class studio and library facilities with other specialist Art courses.
PGCE Art and Design trainees at Reading
- are placed in carefully selected partnership schools where Art and Design is an established and valued subject
- work with experienced Art and Design teachers, many of whom completed the Reading PGCE and who are specially trained as mentors
- achieve excellent employment rates in schools throughout the country.
Applicants should
- have a 2.1 degree or better in an Art and Design discipline (art historians with practical skills may apply)
- be able to demonstrate an ongoing commitment to art and design and to working with children and young people
- be well-informed critical thinkers and creatively effective communicators.
All applications should be made through the Graduate Teacher Training Registry, from whom a booklet about all Art and Design Secondary PGCE courses may be obtained.
The course is always oversubscribed, places are limited and early application is advised.
