FE Colleges

The Institute of Education collaborates with local FE colleges to provide Foundation Degrees for staff in childcare and education and training for Early Years Professional Status (EYPS).

Foundation degrees are open to anyone with two years experience of working in the care and education sectors and will allow them to expand their job opportunities and take on more responsibility. Students remain in employment while they study for the work-based learning foundation degree at Berkshire College of Agriculture, Bracknell and Wokingham College or Newbury College.

EYPS is awarded to those early years practitioners who can demonstrate they are leading and delivering excellent practice in line with a set of national Standards.The University of Reading is in partnership with Berkshire College of Agriculture, Bracknell and Wokingham College, East Berkshire College and Newbury College, together with Local Authorities, to provide appropriate training, support and assessment for EYP status.
