- IoE funding for small scale research into how the home/school communication book promotes progress in early reading. English Team collaboration;
- Personal research based on literacy teaching in Afghanistan and how the experience of practitioners in developing countries might have some application to the teaching of literacy in disadvantaged areas of western literate countries.
