Specialising in Digital Audio & Photography
Recording speech, music and sound effects for course content, plays, films and other productions. Recordings may be made in our small sound studio that is linked directly to a hard disc recording and editing system. Recordings can be also be made on location such as concerts, as appropriate.

Digital editing of sound for all manner of uses with the ability to produce, cassettes, minidiscs and CD's as the final product. Speech editing can be carried out in most European languages working from a script and other languages (such as Urdu and Hindi) with a speaker of that language to guide him. The equipment used for this editing work is 'broadcast quality' and is a dedicated PC based system offering immense flexibility to meet production needs. The system is not confined to speech and effects either; research projects involving analysis of tests of reaction to sound stimulus have been greatly assisted by using 'SADiE' (for this is the name of the editing system).

Mike is happy to work with individuals or small groups to provide materials for productions; he is able to offer advice as to aspects of the sound production and is also happy to work to a producer's requirements and directions.

There is a certain amount of audio equipment available on loan from the office and from Mike; this includes basic cassette recorders, minidisk recorders plus microphones of various types and of course free advice!

Though 'Audio' is Mike's specialism, he also offers a digital photography service to provide group shots, presentations & retirements, individual 'mugshots'  for publication (both within and outside of the University). Mike is able to respond to requests to capture activities in schools and anywhere on or off campus and is responsible for many of the publicity shots seen in the prospectuses and promotional material put out by the University of Reading.
