The programme

The SENCO programme is delivered locally by a combination of University staff and skilled practitioners. Distance learning sessions are easily accessible via the University's website and students will have full access to the University's resources. The programme consists of three Masters level modules (20 credits each) and completion of a portfolio which demonstrates mastery of the learning outcomes. Both aspects are grounded in everyday practice and build towards extending it. All SENCOs are encouraged to apply prior knowledge and experience to learning outcomes through the APL/APEL process. The course is delivered in three modules. Each module has three teaching days which are usually at the university. Before starting, a full day of induction is required.

Priority will be given to SENCOs in Berkshire. Experienced SENCOs are welcome to enrol, but do not normally qualify for TDA funding.
