Life at the Institute of Education

There are many benefits to joining the Institute of Education at Reading. Our aim is to ensure that all educational professionals joining our courses achieve their full potential at graduation and have the extra knowledge and experience to support their future careers. You will be supported throughout your course by our personal tutor, dissertation supervisor and the Programme Director.

For full time professionals who undertake their studies often at the end of a busy demanding working day we aim to be flexible to enable them to gain the most from their studies.The online library facilities increasingly enable flexible use of the extensive range of journals and databases.Many teachers comment on the advantage they gain from meeting other teachers from very different educational settings.We believe the sharing of ideas and experiences is a crucial factor in advanced professional studies.

We welcome the many professional from overseas who join our courses.Our overseas student coordinator Liz Smith is on hand to provide additional support throughout their time with us at Reading.All our teaching is in English and this gives our international students the added bonus of greatly improving their English skills. In addition, the University also provides a range of support services from pre-sessional courses to an In-sessional English Support Programme.
