BA Economics or BSc Economics?
You may well have decided on economics as a degree subject, or you may still be exploring all the options available to you. A likely question will be, 'What's the difference between a BA and a BSc degree in the Department of Economics?'
Both types of undergraduate degree prepare you for a career in economics, business and related disciplines, and for postgraduate study. However, the focus of the courses, aside from the core content shared by both the BA and the BSc, differs as outlined below.
BA degree courses
Undergraduate degree courses in Economics focusing on the application of theory and the factors which influence key decisions and policy making.
Our BA courses attract applicants who have studied a wide range of subjects. An A Level, or equivalent qualification, in economics, mathematics or a business related subject is not required.
BSc degree courses
Undergraduate degree courses in Economics that take a more technical approach to the subject with a greater mathematical and statistical focus.
Our BSc courses also attract applicants who have studied a wide range of subjects, but an AS Level in mathematics is required.
