MSc Banking and Financial Systems in the Global Economy

MSc International Banking and Financial Systems in the Global Economy is a postgraduate masters course in the Dept of Economics.

It provides you with an understanding of the various components of, and financial services provided by institutions within the global financial system. In studying MSc International Banking and Financial Systems in the Global Economy you will explore key issues in a global context and develop a detailed understanding of the economic foundations of banking and financial institutions. In addition, you will learn how to apply the theories related to financial systems to real world situations.

Course structure

Within MSc International Banking and Financial Systems in the Global Economy you will complete a mix of core and optional modules, allowing you to tailor the programme towards your own interests.

Core modules

 

  

To be eligible to take the dissertation, you must complete at least 100 credits of taught modules in the autumn term, and achieve an average coursework mark of at least 60% in that term.

In addition, those students doing the Applied Research Project must take the module Banking and the Macroeconomy.

Assessment

MSc International Business and Financial Systems in the Global Economy students will be assessed through written examinations, a dissertation or project, assignments, research project, case studies and group presentations.

Entry requirements

You are expected to have obtained a UK upper second class honours degree in economics, or the international equivalent, which includes a good understanding of core economics and quantitative methods. Students whose first language is not English are required to provide evidence of proficiency.
