Campus access

Carrington building, home to student servicesThe University has two main self-contained sites, Whiteknights and London Road. London Road is a compact and level campus and the distance between Halls of residence and teaching buildings is small. Whiteknights is larger, mostly level with some gentle slopes and the distances between Halls of residence and teaching buildings are greater. On Whiteknights campus, wheelchair users are advised to use a power assisted chair.

Most teaching buildings are accessible for wheelchair users, although some older buildings have limited access. We are continually improving access to buildings and operate a central room booking system so that lectures are timetabled in accessible rooms.

All University buildings are accessible by car and most have disabled parking spaces nearby. Students with mobility difficulties may apply for a permit to park on campus, for which there is a small annual charge. Permits for Blue Badge holders are free.

There are buses into town from campuses with around 50% of the Reading buses having low floors. Ring Reading Buses on 0118 959 4000 to check which services are accessible.

There is also a Dial a Ride (Readibus) scheme. For more information call 0118 931 0000.
