This research studies the practices of BIM-enabled design to understand new forms of professional work.

  • To examine how BIM technologies change the architect's ways of working and interactions with other construction professionals
  • To conduct an international comparison between the UK/USA
  • To highlight examples of lessons learnt, emerging leading practice and theory recommendations in using BIM

Research Method

A qualitative research approach will be employed using observations and semi-structured interviews for collecting data.

Expected Outcomes

  • New theory building on the literature of professions and technology in the work place
  • Recommendations on new management practices, approaches and styles of working and processes using BIM 
  • Thesis and publications
