Studying Computer Science at the University of Reading

Opening in August 2016, the new dedicated, focused Department of Computer Science will support the current expansion and future growth of our popular Computer Science programmes and outstanding research activities.

Computer Science is the study of the principles, applications, and technologies of computing and computer systems. It involves the study of data, data structures and algorithms used to store, process and communicate information, enabling you to develop the skills and knowledge which are essential in a wide range of computing and computer-related professions.

Equality and diversity

We strongly support equality and diversity in teaching and learning. Our parent School was awarded the Athena SWAN Silver award in 2010, renewed in 2014, in recognition of our commitment to good employment practice for women.
