Professor Richard Bennett is an agricultural economist whose interests in agricultural biotechnology research centre on economic and environmental impact assessment. He has published extensively on farm-level Bt cotton impacts in India and South Africa, and has also carried out life-cycle assessments of herbicide tolerant GM varieties under European conditions

Dr. Jonathan Golub is a political scientist with research interests in national and international environmental policy. He has substantial experience researching EU environmental policy formulation, which has led to an interest in GMO policy issues.

Elisabetta Gotor is a PhD scholar in agricultural economics at the University of Reading. She will soon commence work as Impact Assessment Specialist at the International Plan Genetic Resources Institute (IPGRI), renamed 'Bioversity International', in Rome. Areas of interest include: agricultural biodiversity, economic analysis of crop genetic resource conservation.

Dr. Malcolm Hamilton is a sociologist whose research interests include the sociology of diet and food. In the biotechnology research area, he is particuarly interested in the interplay between perception of risk and ethical concerns about genetically modified food

Professor Chris Hilson is a specialist in EU and UK law and regulation, particularly relating to the environment. His past work has included research into the evolution of EU regulatory mechanisms and laws on GM products.

Dr. Yousouf Ismael is an agricultural economist who has substantial field experience in collecting data on GM variety impacts in developing countries. While the core of his work has focussed on India and South Africa, he has travelled extensively in other parts of Africa to carry out research and dissemination activities relating to biotechnology.

Dr. Zella King, a psychologist, is a research fellow in the Business School at the University of Reading. She is a specialist in organisational psychology, and has been studying the determinants of knowledge transfer between life scientists. She is interested in regional innovation and the formation of business clusters in the biotechnology area.

Dr. Steven Morse is a Reader in development studies at the Univerisity of Reading. He has extensively researched GM crop performance and impacts in developing countries, particularly South Africa and India.

Dr. Bhavani Shankar is an agricultural economist and the coordinator of CUBES. He has worked on GM technology adoption, impact evaluation and risk issues, and his current interests include biofuels, biofortification and poverty impact assessment of GM crops in developing countries.

Dr. CS Srinivasan specialises in the economics of intellectual property rights applied to plant varities and institutional issues surrounding plant breeding and biotechnology. He is currently examining factors determining the longevity of and returns generated by new plant varieties.

Professor Alan Swinbankworks predominantly on agricultural policy and international agricultural and food trade issues. His interests in the biotechnology area are in assessing the market and trade impacts of GM regulation.

Professor Bruce Traill's interests in biotechnology are focussed on consumer attitudes towards GM foods. He recently completed a research project in collaboration with the US Department of Agriculture examining consumer demand for GM foods in the US and Europe, and is currently part of a team examining GM & non-GM food coexistence in the EU.

Mr. Richard Tranter manages the operations of the Centre for Agricultural Strategy at the University of Reading. As an economist, he brings to CUBES wide experience in applying techniques ranging from land use modelling to environmental valuation.
