Certificate of Higher Education

Course structure - Core component

The Certificate of Higher Education consists of two parts: the Core component, a specific subject taught over two years (80 credits) and an Option component (40 credits). See under Option modules below for information on the various opportunities to gain these 40 credits. The Option component may be taken before, during or after the Core component.

Option modules will be available in 2009/10 and in 2010/11

Course structure - Option modules

There are three ways in which to gain 40 credits to make up the Option component of the Certificate of Higher Education. You may:

  1. take 40 credits worth of courses from the Short Courses option modules covering any subject(s) you wish including study skills.
  2. take 40 credits worth of modules from another Certificate course
  3. apply for an exemption on the basis of credits gained from studying elsewhere.

The Combined Studies course does NOT follow this structure. Find out more on our Certificate of Higher Education in Combined Studies page.
