Your lecturers at Reading have extensive experience in both academic and industrial applications. Develop an understanding of the theory behind computer science, and acquire the practical skills required to be competitive in the working world. Multinational companies such as Microsoft, Oracle, Sony and IBM are right on your doorstep – and, thanks to our strong links with industry, they know exactly where to find you. Many of our students take up work experience or a professional placement year with these high calibre companies.

Our connections also allow us to continually review our courses to ensure they meet the needs of industry, host guest speakers to hold seminars for students on topics of interest, and run an annual careers fair to allow you and the companies that attend to connect.

You will graduate from Reading with an internationally recognised degree that certifies you have essential computing knowledge and skills in computer science required for a successful career in this sector.

But you will also have the opportunity to develop transferable skills that are highly sought by employers from all sectors. We aim to ensure you will be ready for employment immediately after graduation and enter the employment market with an awareness of a wide variety of roles across numerous industries.

On average, 90% of our Computer Science graduates were in work and/or further study within six months of graduating; of those in employment, 97% were in a professional or managerial job.*
