Introduction

I came to Reading in 1984 as an undergraduate, dropped out, and had a career as a software engineer and IT analyst for a number of years before returning to get a degree (or three).

I have been involved in a range of research projects funded by the EU and by JISC looking at technology enhanced learning, and digital identity.

In 2016 I was awarded the Teaching Excellence Award for Science. I am on the review committee for the Electronic Journal of e-Learning.

I have particular interest in supporting students' transition in to HE, and in developing life-long, self-directed learners.
