Volunteering at the Cole Museum

Students and people from the local community volunteer in the museum on Wednesday afternoons during term time (2-5pm). They help to conserve and clean specimens, take photographs, provide tours, organise events, or help with cataloguing.

We also take placement students and interns, although we are unable to pay salaries. Please note that we do not take anyone under the age of 18.

If you are a School of Biological Sciences student interested in volunteering, please contact the curator Professor Amanda Callaghan (a.callaghan@reading.ac.uk). Volunteering in the Cole Museum can be officially recorded on your RED Award.

For anyone outside of Biological Sciences, please do just contact us on colemuseum@reading.ac.uk for information.

We offer unpaid internships at the museum for a minimum of 6 weeks.
