Research Services (RES) are the principal source of support to academics and Schools to develop research and enterprise funding, supporting the development of research excellence and enterprise opportunities within the University.

RES includes the Contracts Team who will lead contract negotiations on behalf of academics in schools and departments where the University is working with an outside body or organisation to exchange University (staff) expertise, knowledge, intellectual property and related resources to create new knowledge for the benefit of both the University and partners.

Researchfish is the main outcomes and outputs reporting tool utilised by the majority of the major funders. With Researchfish the impact of research is both measurable and enhanced allowing assessment and analysis of results enabling better research decisions to be made.

Impact is the benefit that research has on the world outside of academia. Research and Enterprise provide context and support for impact at the pre-award phase, during the research and once impact has occurred.

The role of the Intellectual Property Management Office is to assess the most appropriate way to protect IP arising from research conducted within the University and to take the appropriate action to ensure that the IP is protected adequately.
