Responsibilities of Service Users

General Waste

  • Office space
  • Kitchen/tea points
  • Classroom/Lecture Theatres
  • Meeting rooms
  • Entrances, corridors, lifts & stairs
  • Laboratories
  • Daily - bins are emptied and rubbish removed to waste collection point
  • Provide black bags for general waste, additional bags available via internal requisition (rechargeable)

Ensure correct segregation of waste:

  • Domestic waste only in waste containers
  • Recyclables in recycling containers
  • In kitchen areas users to undertake additional bin changes

Recycling

  • Daily - containers are emptied and recyclables removed to waste collection point
  • Provide clear bags for recyclables, additional bags available via internal requisition (rechargeable)
  • Empty cans and plastic bottles and ensure correct segregation into recycling containers
  • Paper and cardboard correctly segregated into recycling containers

Electrical waste

Electrical waste must be dealt with in accordance with WEEE regulations

  • Provide process for service users to arrange collection of electrical waste

Redundant items/equipment

  • Provide process for service users to arrange collection of redundant items/equipment

Collection of confidential waste

  • Provide delivery of empty and collection of full confidential waste sacks

Unwanted or broken furniture

  • Provide process for service users to arrange collection of furniture

Projects/room clearances

  • Provide process for ordering skips for
  • Provide process for collection of extra waste produced from room clearouts
