Reuse furniture from our store

Last year, the Clean & Green team collected over 450 items of waste furniture at the university. Although a lot of it had definitely seen better days, many of the items were in good working order - some items were nearly new!

We have set up a store for the good quality furniture, to encourage reuse and avoid sending items to landfill unnecessarily. Some departments have already taken advantage of our store to refurbish offices and teaching rooms. We've helped some schools save thousands of pounds by giving second hand furniture a new home. One building manager has saved over £20,000 for her department by checking our store before making any new purchases!

Claiming furniture items

If you're looking for furniture for your department, email waste@reading.ac.uk and an appointment to visit the store can be arranged.

Please note: Schools and departments should ensure that items meet their requirements as we are unable to guarantee the standard of furniture in the store. Any improvements needed to meet health and safety requirements are the owner's responsibility.
