Clean and Green team

At the University of Reading we are very proud of our campus. The Clean and Green team are responsible for the general appearance of the campus and makes sure that it stays clean and tidy for everyone to share.

The team;

• empty the external bins
• litter pick
• collect items that have been fly tipped
• remove graffiti.

They collect unwanted furniture from departments and schools, breaking it down into parts for recycling or take it to store if it can be re-issued. They also collect redundant IT equipment for recycling and confidential waste to be destroyed which is recycled into fuel pellets.

The Clean and Green team have a very important role. Not only is the appearance of our campus important from an aesthetic point of view, but it also reduces and prevents crime on campus, helping to make the campus feel a more safe and pleasant environment. It also helps the environment as it reduces litter on the campus. This litter can not only be unsightly, but is also a problem for the wildlife we encourage on campus.
