What can I do?

The University has joined the Green Impact Award scheme. We hope that this will help our ever growing team of Environmental Champions make a significant reduction in our carbon footprint and environmental impact. If you would like to join this team, then please take a look at our Environmental Champions page, or you can get started with some of the handy tips below:

1. Follow the waste hierarchy - Remove, Reduce, Reuse, Recycle.

2. Make sure all old toners and cartridges are returned via waste@reading.ac.uk to be recycled.

3. Ensure you have recycling facilities in your office.

4. Turn off lights and other equipment when not in use.

5. Label light switch banks so that people know which lights to turn off.

6. When the air conditioning or heating is on, make sure the windows are shut.

7. Why not try cycling to work?

8. Switch from bottled water coolers to mains units.

9. Why not setup an environmental notice board?

10. When new staff start, let them know you are committed to lowering environmental impacts by including advice in their induction.
