Display Energy Certificates

Display Energy Certificates (DECs) are designed to show how efficiently a building is being used.  They are very similar to the energy ratings that you might have looked for on the last fridge or washing machine that you bought.  They are required to be displayed, by law, on any public buildings greater than 1000 m2 that are accessed by the public.  Under the legislation, students are members of the public, so this covers a large number of our buildings.  Failure to display the certificates could result in a fine from the Trading Standards Agency.
