Funding

Stack of coinsThe Department has one doctoral award for the year beginning 2010-11 through the AHRC Block Grant scheme.  If you are a UK resident the award will cover full tuition fees and a maintenance grant for three years. For forms and information about the scheme, please contact Vanessa Combeer, Head of Undergraduate & Postgraduate Admissions, by email at v.a.combeer@reading.ac.uk, or by telephone at +44 (0)118 378 8062.  (If you are an EU resident the award may only cover your tuition fees. For more details see the AHRC website.)  The deadline for receipt of applications and two letters of reference is 19 February 2010.  In addition the University offers a few postgraduate studentships across all disciplines. The Faculties of Arts and Humanities and the Faculty of Economic and Social Sciences offer a few awards on a similar basis, although candidates will also be expected to apply for external awards. Please contact Vanessa Combeer at the address above for forms and information.  The deadline for these is also 19 February 2010.  Finally, some funding is available from the Department of Classics in the form of bursaries to help full and part-time postgraduate students who are otherwise self-funding.  Smaller sums of £50 to £200 may be made available to research students to help with their travel or other expenses. Contact us for details of how to apply. For more information, please also see: Financial Support
