Chemistry scholarships
We offer a wide range of generous scholarships.
Scholarships for 2010 entry
There are four types of entrance awards for which students may be eligible.
- University Entrance Scholarships - £2,000
- Department of Chemistry Entrance Scholarship - £1,000
- Entrance Awards
- Overseas Travel Scholarships

1) University Entrance Scholarships - £2,000
Available for students entering to study Chemistry in 2010. All entrants who hold Reading's offer as firm choice (UF or CF) through UCAS, and who achieve one of the following sets of qualifications will be awarded a university entrance scholarship of £2,000.
- A level grades ABB including grade A in Chemistry A level
- Equivalent entrance qualifications may also be accepted for students studying IB, FB, EB, Scottish Highers, BTEC and Irish leaving certificate please contact the admissions tutor for further information
2) Department of Chemistry Entrance Scholarship - £1,000
Students entering to study Chemistry in 2010 who achieve one of the following sets of qualifications will be awarded a Department of Chemistry entrance scholarship of £1,000.
- 300 Tariff points from 3 A levels including grade A in Chemistry
- Equivalent IB qualifications may also be accepted please contact the admissions tutor for further information
The Department of Chemistry award applies only to A level qualifications and IB qualifications.
Some entrants may be eligible for both a University Scholarship and a Department Scholarship making a maximum of £3,000.

* Applicants who defer entry may not be eligible for studentships
3) Entrance Awards
All students entering to read for a degree in the Department of Chemistry 2010 will receive the following entrance package upon registration.
- First year chemistry text book, RRP £42.
- Free student membership of the Royal society of Chemistry.
- Laboratory coat and safety glasses.
- No bench fees or breakage deposits for laboratory work.
- Free e-mail and internet access.
4) Overseas Travel Scholarships†
We have recently introduced the 'Professor David Cardin Travel Bursary'. These travel Bursaries are specifically for overseas students to help them towards the cost of one return trip home during their first year at Reading. The Bursaries are up to the value of GBP 500 (£500.00) please contact the admissions tutor for further information.

† Students who defer entry may not be eligible for studentships.
Scholarships for 2011 entry
