The BSc programme in Chemistry with Education is designed for students considering a career in teaching. This programme teaches the core chemistry required for a BSc Honours degree in chemistry but has specialist options in modules which will help you prepare for a career in teaching.
Throughout the course you will be developing your personal skills' portfolio in preparation for a career in teaching. During the first year you will cover the core of the BSc chemistry programme and study a second science subject. In the second year, in addition to core chemistry you will experience science teaching by spending half a day a week in a local primary school. In your final year you will study a range of chemistry modules, a module in History and Philosophy of Science and also carry out a project in Science Education. The final year project will allow you to experience science teaching at the secondary level, by spending one day per week in a local school, as part of the nationally acclaimed Undergraduate Ambassadors' Scheme.
