The Department of Chemistry at Reading works closely with schools and colleges through its Chemistry Teachers' Centre. The Department has an active Outreach Team engaged in providing activities for all ages. Please see the events list for details of this year's programme and full details of individual activities.
With the cooperation of local schools and teachers, the Department participates in the Undergraduate Ambassadors Scheme which provides our final year BSc students with the opportunity to carry out their 3rd year project in a local secondary school.
The Department of Chemistry at Reading has been closely involved with the Royal Society of Chemistry's project – Chemistry for our Future, which has now come to an end. In one strand of this £3.5 million pilot project we have worked to develop strategies to help students in their school to university transition. Despite the end of the project, these strategies will continue to enhance the learning experience of both school and University students.
