Professor Almond's current research interests centre upon the application of physical methods in analytical chemistry, especially with regard to Environmental, Earth and Archaeological Science. The principal technique that he uses in this research is infrared spectroscopy. This research is carried out in collaboration with colleagues from the School of Human and Environmental Sciences in particular Professor Martin Bell, Dr. Wendy Matthews and Dr. Stuart Black. I am currently principal or second supervisor of nine PhD students working on joint projects with the Department of Archaeology.
