Work in the group revolves around the development of new synthetic methods and their application to the synthesis of natural products. There are projects underway with the aims of developing synthetic approaches towards terpenoids, alkaloids, amino acids and flavonoids with an increasing emphasis on chemistry at the biological interface The group also has interests in a range of other projects including the construction of photochemically active materials, enzyme mediated polymerisation, development of catalytic antibodies, construction of sugar-based anti-tumour agents, development of suramin based G-protein antagonists and preparation of peptide isosteres.
We have an EU grant worth €335,000 in the ACSEPT Framework to prepare selective ligands from actinide extraction in the presence of lanthanide.
We have an EPSRC grant worth £212,000 in the MBase consortium to put the actinide selective ligands on solid phase.
