Research

The Charlie Waller Institute recognises the importance of carrying out high quality research to facilitate both the understanding and effective treatment of psychological disorders. Both directors of the Institute, Professor Roz Shafran and Dr Craig Steel, have active collaborative research programmes supported by external funding, and lead a team of researchers including a post-doctoral researcher and five PhD students. Listed below are some of the projects currently being undertaken at the Institute:

The fear of contamination in obsessive compulsive disorder

The use of NICE guidelines for OCD in primary care

The treatment of PTSD in patients with schizophrenia

The impact of IAPT on clinician knowledge/skill and patient outcome
