The Careers, Placement and Experience Centre is here to help you take the next steps into a career or further study once you have graduated. We offer friendly and professional graduate support, including:

  • Access to hundreds of immediate job vacancies from employers targeting Reading graduates.
  • A regular, dedicated e-newsletter outlining the most recent vacancies and employer messages for graduates.
  • The opportunity to attend one of our careers fairs or Headstart workshop sessions.
  • An open invitation to attend employer workshops – as well as our largest recruitment event of the year – the Careers and Placements Fair, 30 October 2013.
  • A dedicated Graduate Careers Adviser to ensure that graduates receive well-researched and tailored information that is relevant to their needs and interests.
  • One to one support for up to six months after graduation - whether in person, on the phone or via email.
  • Access to practice assessment tests.
  • Free one-to-one coaching for graduates.

My Jobs Online

My Jobs Online is a jobs, placements, events, enquiries and bookings website for graduates and students and graduates of The University of Reading. It offers you to chance to build your own personal profile to receive job listings, events information and news of most interest to you.

JobSavviGrad

JobSavviGrad - in addition to My Jobs Online, Reading graduates also have access to JobSavviGrad, which is unique in that it allows you to build your personalised skills and CV profile and then lets you quickly search multiple jobs boards all at once!
It also lets you tailor your CV and Covering Letter to each job you apply for and keeps a record of all of your applications.

We recommend that you use it alongside My Jobs Online.

Graduate Careers e-newsletter

Register for our fortnightly e-update on the most recent vacancies, training opportunities and employment information. Email graduatecareers@reading.ac.uk with your full name and year of graduation to be added to the mailing list.

Headstart and Careers Fairs

Graduates are welcome to attend one of our Headstart events. The Headstart programme enables you to build experience, skills and knowledge to help you impress employers when you apply for their vacancies. Events include sessions on helping you to write winning applications, psychometric testing, careers in law, careers in the media, what to do if you have no career ideas and much much more!

Careers information - CVs, applications, interviews, career sectors and more!

The Careers Centre hosts in-depth information on options with your degree subject, information sheets and videos on applications, CVs, cover letters, interviews and a variety of careers sectors careers areas and application.

Contact the Graduate Career Adviser

The Careers Centre has a dedicated graduate careers adviser who is able to answer your questions and signpost you to further information. A one-to-one service is available for six months after you graduate. Contact us directly at graduatecareers@reading.ac.uk.

Practice assessment tests

The Careers Centre has a licence for the SHL battery of tests; please email The Careers Centre to request to take an assessment. We will then email the details to you. Please specify whether you wish to take the verbal, the numerical or the inductive assessments or all three - Request to take SHL assessment

Postgraduate Study

We can help you identify and research postgraduate study options. We recommend Prospects to find out the latest available courses. But do talk to an adviser for more help.

What can I do with my degree?

If you're stuck for ideas and need some advice, there are plenty of options available to you:

  • Following graduation, you are still welcome to attend all our workshops and recruitment events, talk to a careers adviser or access our information sources
  • Find out about Options with your degree
  • Sign up to My Prospects - a range of services provided by Prospects, the UK's official graduate careers website
