  • Restoration ecology, habitat creation, colonisation of new sites by plants and associated invertebrates, agri-environmental schemes
  • Plant community ecology, vegetation dynamics and sucession
  • Ecology and management of agricultural systems for biodiversity conservation, especially species-rich lowland grassland.
