Project shifts in UK crop distributions and the need for pollination service

Climate change is likely to affect both the distribution of UK crops and the distribution of UK pollinators in the near future. Therefore, supply and demand for insect crop pollination services will almost certainly change.

Using process based crop models we will simulate observed yields and project future yields under the influence of climate change. Then, by utilising climatic and environmental as well as socio-economic data, we can estimate future cropping patterns across the UK. Combining this information with predictions of future insect pollinator distributions, we will be able to predict the future availability of crop pollination services for insect dependent crops across the UK.
