Neurobiology

The module will provide a comprehensive overview of the nervous system and is divided into four major themes:

  1. An anatomical and function description of the nervous system
  2. The development of the nervous system
  3. A systems based description of the working of the sensory, motor, taste, olfaction, visual, vestibular and auditory functions
  4. Neuropathology and developing strategies to repair cell damage/ loss

Lectures will be supported by five directed learning sessions and five practical sessions which focus on topics such as understanding the cellular organisation of nerve cells and using non invasive imaging techniques to examine the workings of the brain.
