Part 2 Zoology Field Course A (Devon)

This 8 day residential field course is based in Slapton Ley, Devon at a National Nature Reserve by the sea. Students engage in observing, trapping, sampling and recording various animals groups, including mammals, birds and marine life. The habitats visited are varied and include a rocky marine shore, freshwater stream, freshwater lake, meadows and woodland. Students receive training in insect and seashore animal taxonomy and ecological survey techniques. Students are given sessions on bird ringing and dormice surveying and can observe rare bat species and badgers.
