Practical Skills: Recombinant DNA Exercise

DNAIn this module you will gain hands-on experience in two of the most common procedures used in genetic diagnosis to investigate the disease of sickle cell anaemia in a family.

These procedures are commonly used in most areas of biology microbes to plants and animals. You will gain practical skills working individually and in small groups in different parts of the exercise.

Dr Demetris Savva is the Senior Tutor in the School of Biological Sciences and is module convenor for the Recombinant DNA excercise, Medical Genetics and the final year Research Projects. His research interests are the application of molecular biological procedures to investigate genotoxic effects of chemicals in marine invertebrates.
