Animal, Plant and Microbial Development

The module aims to provide students with a comprehensive introduction to mechanisms that control the development of animals, plants and microbes. The course will start with a description of the mechanisms that drive development with an emphasis on key molecular pathways. The remainder of the course will focus on the development of animals, plants and microbes and how major molecular evolutionary processes have also enabled the unravelling of developmental processes. Students will also develop their team work, communication and presentation skills by addressing specific subject matters in three directed learning sessions and their scientific communication skills when writing up results from two practical sessions.
