MSc by Research Biomedicine
This Masters by Research course provides students with a broad research training to prepare them for a career in biomedical research and is suitable preparation for subsequent PhD studies and for students planning a research career in industry or academia.
Students will spend the first term (11 weeks) of the course undertaking a number of core taught modules to prepare them for their research projects as well as to gain practical and theoretical experience in a wide range of important biomedical research techniques.
Research techniques such as confocal microscopy, flow cytometry and cloning will be taught in the first term along with discussion of the latest and most important research papers. The skills developed in this term will be applied in a unique Industrial Challenge in which students address a scientific challenge set by RSSL, a company which provides world-leading scientific and technical solutions to the global food, drink, pharmaceutical, healthcare, biopharmaceutical and consumer goods sectors.
For your seven-month long research project you can choose from projects in a broad range of areas based on the research being conducted in the School of Biological Sciences. Most students choose to specialise in one the following areas:

- Stem cells & regenerative medicine
