Life in Applied Statistics

A particular strength of Applied Statistics at Reading is that as well as the academic staff, there are numerous statisticians employed in the Statistical Services Centre (SSC), a not-for-profit self-financing unit in the University. The SSC undertakes major statistical consultancy projects for UK and international clients, particularly in the developing world. The vast practical experience of the staff in the Centre, coupled with the varied consultancy expertise of the academic staff, serves to strengthen both our undergraduate and postgraduate degree programmes, helping them remain both relevant to the needs of employers, and engaging in terms of realistic examples presented.
