Independent Research Fellowships
The School of Biological Sciences hosts a number of very talented Independent Research Fellows funded through a diverse set of agencies such as NERC, Leverhulme, Royal Society and Marie Curie. We offer a thriving, intellectually challenging research environment and excellent research facilities and infrastructure.
For promising candidates interested in pursuing an Independent Fellowship, we offer support through the application through an internal mentoring process. Funding is also available to travel to Reading to meet key staff and tour facilities and for writing retreats. Please contact relevant Research Division Leaders in Ecology and Evolutionary Biology or Biomedical Sciences and Biomedical Engineering for further information including a 2 page CV and a short summary of your proposed research (1 side A4 max).
A number of Fellowship Schemes are available. For example:
- NERC Independent Research Fellowships
- BBSRC Future Leader Fellowships
- BBSRC David Phillips Fellowship
- UKRI Future Leaders Fellowships
- Royal Society University Research Fellowships
- STFC Ernest Rutherford Fellowship
- Leverhulme Early Career Fellowships
- Marie Skłodowska-Curie Research Fellowship
If you are interested in these Fellowship schemes please consider the submission deadline carefully. Competitive fellowship applications take time to prepare and if you are selected to receive support from the School preparing the application process should ideally begin several months before the deadline.
