Areas of Interest:

My curatorial practice aims to set up lasting infrastructures as ways of investigating and redressing uneven and omitted histories, with particular attention to gender difference and underrepresented geographies. Examples of such work, developed collaboratively, include the establishment of Electra a London-based arts organisation; the Her Noise research project and archive as well as the multi-annual research project Archive As Strategy: Conversations around Self-Historicisation Across The East, (Calvert 22 Foundation with University College London);

My research is centered on feminist self-organisation, politics and mechanics of collaborative work, organisational behaviour in arts organisations, applying DIY strategies of punk and Riot Grrl politics to visual arts practices.

Postgraduate Supervision:

I welcome enquiries from prospective postgraduate students interested in conceptual art (New Art Practice) and popular culture in the former Yugoslavia, cultural exchanges across the Non-aligned Movement, feminist and postcolonial curatorial histories and initiatives, the archive as means of self-organisation, politics and mechanics of collaborative work, soft-power, autonomy and national representation.

Prior to joining University of Reading in 2015 I was Artistic Director at Calvert 22 Foundation (2011-2014) and founding Director of Electra (2003 - 2011), a London-based commissioning organisation I co-founded in 2003. Before this I held curatorial positions at Momentum - Nordic Biennial of Contemporary Art, Norway (guest curator, 2009), London's Institute of Contemporary Arts (2002 - 03) and the Lux Centre (1996 - 2000). In 2006 I was Arts Council England's Decibel Mid-Career Curatorial Fellow.

Selected curatorial and publication projects include Monuments Should Not Be Trusted (Nottingham Contemporary, 2016), Sanja Iveković- Unknown Heroine (South London Gallery and Calvert 22 Foundation, 2012/13), - Yelena Popova - Insoluble Moments (Curated_by Vienna project, 2013, for Knoll Galerie, Vienna), Archive As Strategy: Conversations about Self-historicisation across the East research project (Calvert 22, 2011 - 2014); IRWIN - Time For A New State and NSK Folk Art (Calvert 22, 2012) and NSK Symposium (co-organiser) (April 2012, Tate Modern); The Forgetting of Proper Names co-curated with Dominik Czechowski, (Calvert 22, 2012); 27 Senses (Chisenhale Gallery, London, 2010; Kunstmuseet KUBE, Alesund, Norway, 2009), Favoured Nations, Momentum, 5th Nordic Biennial of Contemporary Art (co-curated with Stina Hogkvist), (Moss Norway, 2009), film/performance Perfect Partner by Kim Gordon, Tony Oursler and Phil Morrison (Barbican Centre, London and across Europe, 2005), group exhibition, archive and performance programme Her Noise (co-curated with Anne Hilde Neset), (South London Gallery, 2005), Sound And The Twentieth Century Avant Garde lecture series (Tate Modern, 2004), and commissioned projects with artists including Daria Martin, Marina Rosenfeld (Tate Modern, 2005/06) and numerous projects with Christian Marclay.
