Areas of Interest:

My curatorial practice aims to set up lasting infrastructures as ways of investigating and redressing uneven and omitted histories, with particular attention to gender difference and underrepresented geographies. Examples of such projects, developed collaboratively, include the multi-annual research project Archive As Strategy: Conversations around Self-Historicisation Across The East, (Calvert 22 Foundation with University College London); the establishment of Electra a London-based arts organisation; and the Her Noise research project and archive.

My research is centered on feminist self-organisation, politics and mechanics of collaborative work, organisational behaviour in arts organisations, applying DIY strategies of punk and Riot Grrl politics to visual arts practices.

My PhD research focuses on artistic practices in the former Yugoslavia in 1960s and 1970s in relation to Pop Art and vernacular cultures. I am interested in the development of artistic subjectivity in Yugoslav self-management, in relation to ideas of Yugoslav internationalism and the cultural connections made through the Non-Aligned Movement.

Prior to joining University of Reading in 2015 I was Artistic Director at Calvert 22 Foundation (2011-2014) and founding Director of Electra (2003 - 2011), a London-based commissioning organisation I co-founded in 2003. Before this I held curatorial positions at Momentum - Nordic Biennial of Contemporary Art, Norway (guest curator, 2009), London's Institute of Contemporary Arts (2002 - 03) and the Lux Centre (1996 - 2000). In 2006 I was Arts Council England's Decibel Mid-Career Curatorial Fellow.
