Man spraying cropsAgriculture is one of the most multi-disciplinary degree programmes of all those offered at Reading, combining the applied study of the natural and life sciences with economics and management. The degree programme will provide you with the proficiency and latest knowledge needed for a rewarding career in 21st century farming and its related industries. You will learn how to use biology and technology to optimise crop and animal production to meet economic targets and achieve environmental objectives. You will also gain a comprehensive grounding in financial and business management to ensure that your practical knowledge is underpinned by sound commercial acumen.

The Agriculture degree is taken over three years with an option for an additional placement year in industry between Parts 2 and 3. You will take 12 different modules each year. Half of these are core to ensure that you take modules relating to Farming in Practice, Animal Science and Production, Crop Science and Production, Agri-Environment and Agri-business. The other half are optional, allowing you top tailor your course to your own interests and needs. In your final year, a third of your programme will comprise a major research dissertation on your topic of choice.
