Success in the farming sectors takes a lot more than sheer determination. Sustainable rural livelihoods require high-quality, vigorous business management within dynamic financial, legal, political, social, seasonal, and environmental constraints. The village market has expanded into the international market, which is why we've developed a degree course to give you a global overview of both the practical and business aspects of modern farming practice.

This degree will teach you about the management of agricultural and other land based businesses and enterprises that go hand in hand with agriculture. It will help you acquire the basic knowledge and skills to become a successful manager of a business, and develop your skills of critical observation and analysis through contact with a variety of interesting real-life businesses.

During the first two years you will gain a general insight into UK, European and world agriculture, and the foundations will be laid for a thorough understanding of the many aspects of production processes in agriculture. In the final year, you will follow modules that have been designed to complete your understanding of business management as well as undertaking a special business related project which is presented as a dissertation. Topics chosen by previous students include: specialist or diverse: what is the way forward for UK arable farmers; opportunities for new entrants to agriculture; the influence of supply chain relationships on market share; bovine TB and its impact on the beef industry; milk contracts and pricing.

Founded in 1916, AACSB International is the longest-serving global accrediting body for business schools and universities that offer undergraduate, masters and doctoral degrees in business and accounting.
