Thia has published widely in both the academic literature and mainstream media. Prior to joining UCC in September 2016, Thia was employed by Teagasc, the Agriculture and Food Development Authority of Ireland where she managed the agricultural and environmental economic research programme. She was also responsible for the Teagasc National Farm Survey which produces the official national statistics on farming in Ireland and is a member of the European Commission's Farm Accountancy Data Network.

Edith Mary Gayton Lecture:

The Edith Mary Gayton Memorial Lecture is an event which is held in memory of Edith Mary Gayton who was an agricultural graduate of the University of Reading in the 1930's. Little is known of her later career and life but, in his will, her husband made a bequest to Reading in her memory stipulating that the funds should be used in the field of agriculture and management. The annual Memorial Lecture is one use of these funds.

The lecture will be held in the Madejski Lecture Theatre, Agriculture Building at the University of Reading, in which tea and coffee will be available from 18:15, and the lecture will commence at 19:00. Light refreshments will also be available after the lecture.

Due to the popularity of the event please confirm your attendance by emailing Teresa Hicks: t.m.hicks@reading.ac.uk or by telephone: 0118 378 8152.
