School Direct - Change of Course Request

Applicants (i.e. offer holders) who wish to change the course for which they hold an offer must first seek approval of the change from their lead training school.

This includes changes from the 'with QTS' to the 'with PGCE route' (or vice versa) and any other changes such as from Primary to Primary with Maths.

Points for note:

  • Schools should communicate the course change request to the University Admissions team by completing the form below so that we can update the applicant's record and make sure that they are enrolled onto the correct programme in September.

  • Please note that where the applicant has already accepted an offer of a place, the university now has to submit a request to the DfE to make the change on the portal.  We can only make course changes directly on the portal at the point of offer making or before the applicant has accepted the offer..  

  • Once the change has been processed (or approved by the DfE) the admissions team will send a new offer to the applicant which will ensure that non-salaried students have the correct fee information they need for their tuition fee loan application and salaried students (or their schools) are invoiced for the correct fees.

  • We will need to know the course code of the new programme that you wish us to offer to the applicant. If the appropriate programme is not currently available on the DfE portal (i.e. a 'QTS only' version was set up by the school in the summer but not a 'with PGCE' version) the lead school will need to set up a new course code for the appropriate version of the programme on the DfE portal.

  • Unfortunately the DfE do not permit us to do this on your behalf but we have provided a quick guide to setting up new programme codes which you hope you might find helpful: Setting up new courses on the DfE Portal

Important:  The DfE will now only process changes for applicants who have already accepted offers when requests are accompanied by written confirmation from the applicant that they have requested the change.  If you already have an email from the applicant requesting the change, please forward it to teachertraining@reading.ac.uk or ask the applicant to send email confirmation to teachertraining@reading.ac.uk
