    Letter, F. Mayo to MERL, 26 August 1959 – ‘In reply to your letter re. hames, my grandfather W. Mayo used oxen when farming at Poxwell to haul hay from Ringstead. // My Father F. J. Mayo sold some Longhorn Cattle to a man in South Africa at the beginning of the century for use as oxen, but do not know if he used the hames at Friar Waddon.’
