Description
10 bobbins for making lace. One of the inlaid bobbins has the letters ‘[?]ACK’ pricked out in the pewter. All have spangles.
10 bobbins, for use in making lace. They are made of a very-dark coloured wood and are decorated with varying numbers of turned grooves, and either pewter rings or pewter inlay. One of the inlaid bobbins has the letters ‘[?]ACK’ pricked out in the pewter. All have spangles – glass beads or ornaments attached to the bottom of the bobbin to provide additional weight. They were used by the donor since she acquired them whilst at school in Northamptonshire at the start of the twentieth century.

Visiting researcher note, Ann Dismukes (lacemaker), 1 October 2014 – All wood, all either with pewter rings or pewter inlay; one has ‘?ACK’ pricked out in a band of pewter; all have spangles; all have threads still on; very dark coloured wood; varying amounts of grooves.
