Ladder made as apprentice piece, to become a wheelwright at Bramley, Hampshire, later used at Wigley & Sons, builders in Silchester, Hampshire.
This lightweight wooden ladder has twelve rungs, with an iron rod for strengthening under the first, sixth and eleventh rungs. It is inscribed 'Wigley & Sons, Builders'. The donor made this ladder during his apprenticeship as a wheelwright at Bramley, Hampshire, and it was later used at Wigley and Sons, a builders firm in Silchester, Hampshire.

Mr S. H. Rose, the donor, trained as a wheelwright in Bramley, Hampshire. He is connected to the Wigleys of Wigley and Sons, builders in Silchester, Hampshire, through his wife's family (his wife's aunt married a Wigley).
