This basket was perhaps used for keys or as a ‘tidy’. It was made in Germany in the nineteenth century. It is an oblong basket, made of fine white willow skein, with a foot and a handle. The bottom is turned-skeinwork and the sides are French-randed.

The Ann Mary Pilcher Collection of Victorian Baskets (67/60-94) was collected by Ann Mary Pilcher in 1957-1967, mostly from junk shops and stalls.
